It’s not very often that you witness a comeback as confident and strong as Cat Power’s newest release, Sun - her first full-length collection of songs in about six years. The artist, whose given name is Chan Marshall, calls it her “rebirth”. She’s unabashedly transformed her sound with layered vocals, driving drum beats and synth - playing every instrument and singing every part on the album.
We’d argue to say it’s one of her best efforts to date.
We were able to secure a rare and intimate interview with Chan. Listen in as she reveals insights into the new album, describes the five albums that have shaped her life, discusses technology, and much more!

Sun is the first album of original material from Cat Power in over six years. Chan Marshall performed and produced Sun herself in various locations including a studio she built in Malibu.
